Bootstrap method and hierarchical regression analysis were used to analyze the data of 421 employees’ questionnaires. The results showed that ambidextrous leadership positively promoted employees’ active change behavior, and paradoxical thinking played a partially mediating role. The relationship between ambidextrous leadership and paradoxical thinking, and the above mediating effect were positively moderated by employees’ virtuous personality, which meant this indirect effect was significantly stronger for the employees with the high virtuous personality. Therefore, in the Chinese context, in order to promote employees’ active behavior change, leaders should actively display ambidextrous behavior to stimulate employees’ ability of paradoxical thinking, and pay attention to identifying and cultivating employees’ virtuous personality. %U https://journalsk.bupt.edu.cn/EN/10.19722/j.cnki.1008-7729.2022.0072
